If you feel overwhelmed or burned out by life’s stressors, or are unsure how to move toward an important goal, then therapy can be useful for you. You don’t have to be experiencing particular mental health challenges or symptoms to benefit from therapy.
Therapy is a neutral, calm space to help you do your best thinking. A therapist isn’t going to tell you what you should do. They simply provide a framework and tools for taking on challenges, and a supportive, non-judgmental environment to do your best thinking.
If you’re thinking about working with a therapist, you can use our self-assessment tool and don’t hesitate to reach out to Yuri.
Therapy can be beneficial to anyone who is experiencing distress, facing a challenge, or wanting to work on themselves.
Therapy works best when a person comes to a session with specific concerns or challenges they want to think about. Writing down your thoughts and observations between sessions and completing any “homework” given to you will help you get the most out of your time with your therapist.
The benefits of therapy include:
When you begin to see a therapist, together you will decide how often you should meet. People in crisis may want to meet more frequently to start with, while others feel comfortable meeting with their therapist weekly, every other week, or even monthly.
Frequency may depend on the theory and techniques being used. For example, a therapist using brief-solution focused therapy may recommend you come in weekly for 6-8 weeks.
The word “therapist” is often used as a catchall term to describe someone trained as a mental health professional. A person who is licensed as a mental health counselor, a clinical social worker, a marriage and family therapist, or a psychologist may describe themselves as being a therapist.
A counselor is someone who has licensure in one of the counseling professions, such as mental health counseling, rehabilitation counseling, alcohol and drug counseling, or school counseling.
Absolutely! I wholeheartedly offer online therapy sessions to cater to your needs. I understand that life can get hectic, and attending in-person sessions might not always be feasible.
With online therapy, you have the flexibility to engage in therapy from the comfort of your own space, whether it's your home, office, or any other environment where you feel at ease.
Through secure and confidential video conferencing, I provide the same level of professional support and guidance as in traditional therapy settings.
Whether you're dealing with stress, relationship issues, or any other mental health concerns, online therapy offers a convenient and effective solution to help you navigate life's challenges. Feel free to reach out to me to learn more or schedule your first online session. I'm here to support you on your journey towards healing and personal growth.
Preparing for your first therapy session is an important step towards getting the most out of our time together. First and foremost, take a moment to reflect on what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve.
Consider jotting down any thoughts, feelings, or questions you may have, as this can help guide our discussion. Additionally, find a quiet and comfortable space where you can feel relaxed and focused during our session. It's also helpful to ensure you have a stable internet connection if we're meeting online. Lastly, try to approach our first session with an open mind and a willingness to engage in the therapeutic process. Remember, our sessions are a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions freely. I'm here to support you every step of the way, and I look forward to our journey together towards healing and growth.
Therapy is confidential. Client confidentiality comprises privacy of the content of the sessions, and also the fact that a person is a therapy client.
There are two exceptions to this rule. The first exception is if you are at risk of harm to yourself or someone else and the second exception is in relation to court orders. If either of these situations become relevant your psychologist will discuss this with you.
Good therapy will come to an end allowing clients to live a happy and fulfilled life. Sometimes it takes a little longer than others. It is important to keep constant and honest track of the therapy advancement and the work you put into it.
